At about 10 a.m. Friday, Van Buren Township Public Safety Department and Huron Valley Ambulance were dispatched to the 11500 block of Meadows Court, near the corner of Quirk Road and the South I-94 Service Drive, for a domestic dispute that involved shots fired.
In a news release by VBT Police Lt. Ken Floro, police report finding a male victim lying on the floor. Officers secured two people of interest that were seated in the immediate area, reportedly the mother and brother of the victim.
VBT Public Safety personnel and HVA paramedics performed advanced life-saving procedures on the male but were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner took possession of the body and was to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
In television reports over the weekend, Lt. Floro referred to the shooting as a “traumatic incident.”
“One loved one is dead and another is in custody for the crime,” Floro said to a Channel 2-TV reporter.
An argument started between the mother and the victim and that transpired into the victim arguing with another person in the home and ends up with the victim being shot, said Floro to television reporter.
TV-2 said police also confirmed the victim died from a single gunshot wound to the side of the chest and that the gun believed to be involved has been recovered.
