Belleville DDA allocates grants in 2014-15 budget

At its May 21 meeting, the Belleville Downtown Development Authority approved its proposed budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year beginning July 1.
There was $16,000 budgeted to support the following community events:
• Belleville Area Council for the Arts, Music Lakeside – group’s total budget $6,450, $4,500 requested, $2,500 granted;
• Belleville Area Council for the Arts, Art Affair on Main — $20,000 total budget; $5,000 requested, $2,500 granted;
• National Strawberry Festival — $79,598 total budget, $8,000 requested, $7,000 granted (includes covering cost of downtown business participation);
• Chamber of Commerce Winter Fest — $13,225 total budget, $3,000 requested, $2,500 granted; and
• Belleville Area Historical Society, Museum Exhibits, Monthly Events, Booville — $5,000 total budget, $1,800 requested, $1,500 granted.
