Belleville Fire Chief Brian Loranger said on Aug. 6 that those who have ordered Autism Awareness T-shirts through the fire department since last April may register with City Clerk/Treasurer Lisa Long to get the shirts ordered earlier this year.
He said there were 18 sold and the paperwork was somehow lost. Those who ordered the shirts should tell Long their name, size of shirt, and what color they ordered. It’s on the honor system.
Chief Loranger also said the check for $2,300, raised through various fund raisers by the fire department and auxiliary, was going out in Tuesday’s mail to AutismSpeaks, as promised.
The Belleville Fire Department and Auxiliary Facebook page offers a free refund for the ordered T-shirts, if desired.
He said firefighters had hoped to get a representative of the austism group to come to a city council meeting to accept a big, ceremonial check, but that didn’t work out.
“We have some work to do on our fund-raising technique before we do another fund raiser,” Chief Loranger said.
