Aaron Lorincz of Sumpter Township won the Intercollegiate Singles Bowling Championship in Lincoln, Neb. on April 20.
He qualified first, out of 602 male bowlers, at sectionals which were held in March. Then, the top 24 men progressed to 14 games of qualifying and match play where Aaron reached the top four.
In the semifinals, he defeated his opponent 278-153. Bowling in the finals against a member of Team Canada, Aaron won 245-222.
The semifinal and final matches will be broadcast by CBS Sports on Friday, May 10 at 10 p.m. Though it has a history of National Team Championships, this is the first individual honor for Saginaw Valley State’s bowling program.
Aaron is a junior at Saginaw Valley State University and has been the team captain for the past two seasons. He is studying Business with a minor in Small Business Entrepreneurship. His future plans are to join the PBA once he is finished with college and run a bowling pro shop.
Aaron is the son of Bob and Renee Lorincz of Sumpter Township.
