On Monday, Aug. 4, at about 10:40 a.m. the Van Buren Township Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a possible drowning, reports police Lieutenant Kenneth Floro.
The Van Buren Township Police Department, the Van Buren Township Fire Department, and Huron Valley Ambulance responded to Fairbanks Street in Haggerty sub. where they found residents at the scene providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a 2-year-old girl.
HVA and the fire department administered advanced life support care at the scene before transporting the patient to Corewell Health – Wayne Hospital. The patient was later air lifted to Corewell Health – Royal Oak Hospital for more intensive care.
Lt. Floro reported she died Monday night.
The Van Buren Township Detective Bureau was called to the scene to collect evidence and conduct a follow-up investigation. This incident remains under investigation.
