Leonus Dainel Herring
Leonus Dainel Herring, 24, of Taylor is charged with receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle and unlawful driving away of an auto on Oct. 21, 2022 in Van Buren Township. His probable cause conference was April 17 and his preliminary exam was set for April 24 before Judge Oakley. Personal bond is $5,000.
On April 22, the defense attorney asked to withdraw, so the April 24 exam was rescheduled for May 8. At that time a probable cause conference was set for May 15. Then, he waived his exam and he was bound over to circuit court for an arraignment on the information on May 29, adjourned to June 10. Calendar conference is July 15.
Daniel Glenn Jackson
Daniel Glenn Jackson, 25, of Farmington Hills had two exact charges in Van Buren Township for the dates of March 22 and March 29: organized retail fraud, retail fraud-first degree and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime (max sentence of 4-10 years). His arraignment/probable cause conference was May 8. He was video-arraigned from the Oakland County Jail and his bond set for $10,000/10%. His probable cause conference was June 5. He was present by zoom from the jail and waived his exam. He was bound over to circuit court for a June 12 arraignment on the information, which was reset by the court until June 25.
Procopio Vitale
Procopio Vitale, 44, of Monroe was present by zoom on May 29 from the Washtenaw County Jail on two separate charges of possession of methamphetamine/ecstacy on April 19, 2023 and Nov. 10, 2022. He waived the exam on the April 19, 2023 charge brought by Western Wayne Narcotics and was bound over to circuit court for a June 5 arraignment on the information.
His probable cause conference was set for June 12 on the Nov. 10, 2022 charge brought by Van Buren Township Police.
It was noted he will be in the Washtenaw County Jail until November.
His probable cause conference was set for June 26.
Wain Lee Bales
Wain Lee Bales, 51, of Van Buren Township was charged with domestic violence on July 15 in Van Buren Township. On Dec. 20, the victim did not show up to his final pretrial on the matter, so the charge was dismissed without prejudice. He was reminded of his Jan. 22 court date on the misdemeanors out of Van Buren Township. A show cause hearing was set for Feb. 26 on those, but hospital papers showed he had been in the hospital since Feb. 25, so the show cause was moved to March 25. He failed to appear so a warrant was issued March 27.
On May 8, Magistrate Hindman video-arraigned him while in police custody on a new charge of possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy on May 5 in Van Buren Township and the six bench warrants for misdemeanors in Van Buren Township. Bond is $5,000/10%.
His probable cause conference was set for May 22 on the drug charge and then reset for June 5. On June 5, he was an hour late for court and his attorney left before he got there. His case was reset to June 18. His pretrial on the technical requirements was set for June 6. His bench trial was set for July 25. Personal bond is $3,000. Warrants were canceled.
Dion Fitzgerald Davis
Dion Fitzgerald Davis, 30, of Plymouth and previously of Van Buren Township, is charged with three counts of uttering and publishing in Van Buren Township on Nov. 8. He had a probable cause conference on June 12 and was set for a second probable cause conference on June 18. Personal bond is $20,000.
Kayne Zumahn Kelley
Kayne Zumahn Kelley, 29, of Jackson was video-arraigned in police custody on May 6 by Judge Green on charges of fleeing police in a vehicle, police officer assaulting/resisting/obstructing, and reckless driving on May 5 in Van Buren Township. His probable cause conference was set for May 15 and bond at $5,000/10%.
He said he wanted to retain private counsel so his probable cause conference was adjourned until May 29. On that date the exam was set for June 5. At that time, he pled guilty to attempting to flee and attempted assault, both new misdemeanors, and the original charges were dismissed along with the reckless driving charge. He was fined $1,000 for both files left and to non-reporting probation. He told Judge Oakley he has never had a full-time job since he graduated high school. He said he gets a check each month because of his Indian heritage. He works with a temporary staffing business but hasn’t worked in three weeks. He said he is trying to get custody of his 14-year-old nephew and Judge Oakley said he’d better become more responsible before that happens.
Marquis Deaunte Brandon
Marquis Deaunte Brandon, 34, of Inkster, was scheduled for a motion to set aside a felony conviction from an Aug. 22, 2009 incident in Van Buren Township, but did not appear for the June 5 hearing.
He had been convicted of malicious destruction of property and domestic violence after pleading guilty to the charges, paying a fine, and doing community service in lieu of jail time. A year later there was a review and the prosecutor dismissed the charges. Over the years there were bench warrants and failure to pay fines.
A motion to set aside the conviction was set for April 24, but he failed to appear. He called to say he never got the notice and asked for a new hearing date.
Tiffany Marie Rodriguez
Tiffany Marie Rodriguez of Newport, was charged with retail fraud on Nov. 13, 2023 in Van Buren Township. She was scheduled for arraignment/pre-trial on June 5, but she failed to appear. She was set for a show-cause/arraignment/pretrial on June 26.
Julius Termaine Turner
Julius Termaine Turner, 37, of Detroit, is charged with nine charges occurring on May 25 in Van Buren Township. He is charged with: possession of firearms and of ammunition by a prohibited person, larceny of weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, larceny in a building, and four felony firearms.
He failed to appear on June 5 for his probable cause conference and a bench warrant was issued. On June 6, he came into the court building and gave information on how to contact him. A second probable cause conference was set for June 12 and the warrant was canceled at that time. The preliminary exam was set for July 24. Personal bond is $10,000.
Timothy Andrew Troin
Timothy Andrew Troin of Wayne was video-arraigned by Judge Martin while in custody of Van Buren Police on one count of possession of narcotic or cocaine, less than 25 grams, on June 9 in Van Buren Township. Defense attorney Ron Ruark said he had been his personal attorney for ten years. He said his client has four kids, has been with his wife Becky for 14 years, and runs a business laying commercial and residential floors. He asked for personal bond. Van Buren Police asked for $5,000/10% bond and Judge Martin noted there is not much history with him and gave him $5,000 personal bond. His probable cause conference was set for Tuesday, June 18, by Zoom.
