At the Sept. 18 meeting of the Belleville City Council, Mayor Pro Tem Ken Voigt announced that they have only 11 veterans for the annual flying of veterans’ banners in the city and if they don’t get more, it will have to be canceled for this year.
He said the deadline had been Sept. 15, but the deadline has been extended through the end of the month.
An application for getting a veteran honored on a banner is available at city hall or on the Belleville city website.
