The Belleville Area District Library will offer three different introductory computer classes through Nov. 17, all at its Sumpter Media Center, 23465 Sumpter Rd. Registration for the free classes are required and open one month before the class date.
“Introduction to Computers” was first held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. It will run again on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 3:30 p.m. and then again on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m.
This introductory class is designed for the absolute beginner and starts with teaching you how to turn the computer on! The class also includes an overview of desktop/laptop computer set-ups, basic functions, and lots of practice using the keyboard and mouse.
“Introduction to Internet Searching and Email” will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m. The same class will run again on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 3:30 p.m. and then again on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m.
In this class students learn how to perform basic, effective internet searches using popular search engines. It will also cover setting up and maintaining an email address: choosing a username and password, writing and replying to emails, and the basics of managing the inbox. Participants must be proficient using a mouse and keyboard.
“Microsoft Publisher 101” will be taught once, on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m.
In this class participants will learn how to create eye-catching flyers, posters, and brochures using Microsoft Publisher. The lesson will go over the basic functions of the program and put together a couple of simple projects. Participants must be proficient using a mouse and keyboard.
