The Belleville Area Museum at 405 Main St. in Belleville, reopened at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and are subject to change in December due to the holidays.
“We’re so excited to open our doors once again,” said Museum Director Katie
Dallos. “We have missed you all and can’t wait to see everyone back at the museum and at our fall events.
Current displays include a Women’s Suffrage and Vintage Department Store Room. It includes a 19th Amendment flag along with hats and costumes to try on.
“Stop by and keep your eyes open for the salad hat,” said Director Dallos. “You’ll know it when you see it.”
Admission into the museum is free, but donations are welcome. All events are free
and open to the public unless otherwise noted. People can sign up for events by stopping by the museum or by calling (734) 697-1944.
The fall events include:
• Booville Bonfire Kickoff – Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 5-7 p.m.;
• Harvest Fest – Saturday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.;
• Soop Cemetery tour – Saturday, Oct. 16, from 3 – 5 p.m., $15 per person;
• Kids’ Halloween Party – Sunday, Oct. 24, from 3 – 5 p.m.;
• Downtown Trick or Treat – Friday, Oct. 29, from 5 – 7 p.m.;
• Museum Holiday Decorating – Nov. 1-19, by appointment only;
• Belle Noelle Bonfire – Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 5 – 7 p.m.; and
• Santa Picture and Ornament Workshop – Saturday, Dec. 11 and 18 from noon – 4 p.m., $2 per child.
“The BAM has been a meeting place for our community to come together for events while exploring the history of Belleville, Sumpter and Van Buren Township,” said VBT Community Services Director Elizabeth Renaud. “We’re looking forward to continuing that tradition and opening our doors once again.”
