The Belleville Area Women’s Club is looking for community volunteers to help with the Reality Check program the club will be putting on at McBride Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7.
For the Reality Check, the club works with eighth-grade students to give them a reality check on what it would be like to be out on their own.
The students are given details of a life: “You’re 25. You live in Belleville.” They find out if they are married or single, have any children, if they have a car, and they select their occupation from a list and then are given a salary that has to meet all their needs.
“This is an outstanding program where we reach into the community,” said Sophia Zoller of the women’s club.
No prior experience is required. Those seeking more information are invited to call Gloria Dougherty, (734) 699-9892; Connie Stoelton, (734) 424-9066, [email protected]; or Sophia Zoller, (734) 697-7379, [email protected] .
