The Van Buren Eagles #3996 is hosting its third-annual Walk for Autism from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Belleville High School gymnasium, 501 West Columbia Ave.
The Fun Run/Walk has no registration fee, but participants are asked to get pledges from sponsors to donate for the cause and bring it with them the day of the run. A prize valued at more than $100 will be given to the walker who raises the highest amount of donations.
Baked goods and bottled water will be available for purchase, as well as a 50/50 drawing, basket auctions, face painting, and balloon art. Also, 12-year-old McBride Middle School student Jenny Struble will be holding a book signing.
100% of the proceeds will go to the local schools for autistic students: Webster Elementary and Van Buren Public Schools. The gym is wheel-chair and handicap accessible.
