Vivian (Charlesworth) Litchard celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends on July 6. She is an original “Rosie the Riveter” and proud 1941 Belleville High School graduate.
Vivian has an infinite capacity for love and reminiscing. She enjoys sharing her memories of living in Belleville with her parents Nona and Gifford Charlesworth. After graduation from high school, she worked in the Willow Run Bomber Plant’s sewing department, 1942-45, covering various components of the planes.
In 1947, she married Ypsilanti resident Lyle L. Litchard and raised their children Jacquelyn, Sharon, and Lyle Jr. After the children were grown, she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the world and bringing their unique experiences back to their family to serve as a wealth of information and inspiration to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
