At its Jan. 14 meeting, the Van Buren Township Board of Trustees finally was able to give 13 employees honors for their years of service.
David Champagne received two awards for his years as a fire fighter and police officer, so there were 14 awards.
The employees first were scheduled to be honored at the Dec. 17 board meeting, but the meeting was cut short because of a strong natural gas odor and high CO2 readings. The honors were postponed.
Honored at the Jan. 14 meeting were:
• Fred Yono, 35 years, police officer;
• Terri Brooks, 25 years, public safety dispatcher;
• David McInally, 20 years, public safety dispatcher;
• Michael Papin, 20 years, police sergeant;
• John Hayden, 20 years, fire fighter;
• David Champagne, 10 years, police officer, and five years, fire fighter;
