Hussain Sabir Foxworth, 22, of Van Buren Township, has been charged in connection with an attempted carjacking at the Marathon gas station at the corner of Biddle and Ford avenues in Wyandotte.
On Sunday, July 14, at about 4:59 p.m., Wyandotte police officers were dispatched to the gas station and when they arrived, the officers saw two men detaining a man near a vehicle.
Witnesses said that Foxworth came out of the gas station, punched the face of the owner of a vehicle who was getting gas, and attempted to drive off in the truck.
An off-duty police officer, the owner of the truck, and other bystanders caught Foxworth before he could get away in the truck, according to authorities.
The gas station is across the street from the Wyandotte Police Department.
Foxworth was charged with one count of carjacking. He was arraigned July 17 before 27th District Court Judge Elizabeth Disanto. His probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., July 25. The preliminary examination is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 2. Both hearings are before Judge Disanto at 27th District Court in Wyandotte.
Foxworth is being held on $500,000 cash bond.
