Van Buren Township announced Friday that Van Buren Beach has been closed effective July 28 by the Wayne County Health Department due to high E. Coli levels. The source of the bacteria had not been determined.
The Health Department regularly checks the water two times a month during the swimming season.
On Wednesday, Aug. 2, the township announced the beach has been reopened because it had a new test and passed.
