State Rep. Joe Bellino, of Monroe, on Sept. 10, honored Darrian Young, who served as Monroe County Sheriff’s Office animal control officer, during a special memorial service at the state Capitol.
Young died June 6, 2020 while on the line of duty.
“My heart and prayers go out to Darrian’s family – she was so young, and her life was lost way too soon,” Bellino said. “Not just today, but always, we must remember those who put their lives at risk every single day so that we can enjoy our freedoms and live comfortably.”
The Michigan House holds an annual service to honor first responders and the victims of 9/11, as well as the first responders and service members from Michigan who died during the last year. Rep. Bellino serves the 17th District, which includes Sumpter Township.
