Robert and Kathleen (Merecki) Miller celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 renewing their vows at 5 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in New Boston with Father John Hedges (Kathy’s cousin) officiating.
Kathy wore her shortened wedding gown with her headpiece made into a corsage.
A reception followed at the Belleville Moose Lodge with family and friends coming from as far as California for dinner and dancing.
They were married on Saturday, Oct. 16, 1965 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Belleville and have remained area residents since then.
Bob and Kathy both graduated from Belleville high School – Bob in 1960 and Kathy in 1963.
They have been blessed with two children, Michelle (Nolan) Engelhardt and Jeffrey (Lisa) Miller, and two grandchildren, Sarah and Anthony Miller.
Bob retired from Ford Motor Co. after 33 years but still enjoys working at Polo Fields in Washtenaw Country Club in Ypsilanti. Kathy’s time is spent quilting, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Prior to their anniversary, they celebrated their 50th by going to Disney World for 12 days.
