On June 8, 2018, Paul and Mary Marcum of Belleville will celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Paul and Mary met in the Detroit area shortly after Paul traveled from Alabama to get a job in the automotive industry. They were married on June 8, 1968.
In March of 1969 their first son was born, Paul “Bo” Marcum. Soon after, Paul began working at Ford Motor Co. while Mary kept busy at home. In 1972 they had their second son, James “Eddie” Marcum.
In 1978 they began to attend Grace Assembly of God in Detroit and just a few years later Paul received his Credentials with the Assemblies of God. In 1980 their third son was born, Stephen Marcum.
In 1982 they became Senior Pastors of Downriver Assembly of God in Ecorse and entered into full-time ministry shortly after. For the next 12 years they ministered to the community, served as a religious advisor to the Mayor, and relocated the church to a larger facility because the church had outgrown its existing location.
In the early ’90s they resigned their position to begin an evangelistic ministry. They traveled and ministered in many churches in Michigan, West Virginia and traveled to Honduras on Missionary Crusades.
In 2002, they founded River of Life Assembly of God at 870 Savage Road in Belleville. There was quite a bit of work to be done there, but along with their family and God’s help, they accomplished much. And it has been a thriving ministry since.
In 2013, they retired from full-time ministry and now reside in Belleville. They have three sons, nine grandchildren, and one great grandson.
