Over the past week a series of larcenies and break-ins have hit residents of the tri-community.
In Belleville there were seven sheds broken into on Sept. 11 and 13 in the Belle Villa neighborhood.
Interim Police Chief Hal Berriman said his officers are investigating and have some leads.
He said the items stolen include tools, a snowblower, a set of golf clubs, and a small boy’s BMX bicycle. One shed had pry marks on the door, but nothing was missing. In another shed a video game attachment that didn’t belong to the victim was left in the victim’s building.
In Van Buren Township on Sept. 12 there were four larcenies from autos at the Beck Ball Diamonds and another larceny from an auto on Kirkridge Street on Sept. 15.
On Sept. 13 there was a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle in the early morning hours on Lighthouse Drive and later on the 13th there were three vehicles stolen from 49120 and 49110 Denton Road.
VBT Police Lt. Dennis Brooks said all of the larcenies from autos followed the same procedure. Items taken were purses, wallets, phones, anything left out in the open.
Lt. Brooks said it’s impossible to tell if the thefts are related, but if he had to guess he would say because of the locations and times it probably is the same crew doing them all on the given nights.
