Christopher Daniel Gering, age 37, of Sumpter Township died in a motorcycle accident at about 2:10 a.m. Sunday morning, April 28, in the 17000 block of Savage, south of Bemis.
Sumpter Township Detective John Toth said Gering was riding his motorcycle south on Haggerty in Van Buren Township with his friends in a vehicle behind him.
His friends lost sight of him in the curves in that portion of Haggerty and came upon a big cloud of dust. They stopped, got out, found him, and called for help, Det. Toth said.
When they were called to the motorcycle accident, Sumpter Township Police and Fire were just finishing up their emergency work at an ATV accident on Haggerty that left five hurt, including four children, Toth said.
