The League of Women Voters is meeting at 7 p.m. today (Monday, Jan. 18) to organize a chapter from the Belleville, Van Buren, and Sumpter areas.
The meeting was originally set for The Something to Talk About restaurant in the former Paula’s restaurant building in Belle Plaza shopping center on Sumpter Road. On Friday that restaurant closed, so Gina Hamilton of The Q Banquet and Event Center, next door to the restaurant, at 879 Sumpter Road has opened her doors for the League of Women Voters meeting.
Hamilton also operates JNG Auction Services.
For more information on the location change, call Barbara Miller’s law office at (734) 697-4455.
Uh Hello? Anybody home? Barbara Miller is organizing this? How odd…just read a letter in the paper where she chastises the current school board and demands new people in place. This is hardly an unbiased and factual representation from the organizer of the League. Fair and unbiased reporting and information is the goal of the League, and I would love to see that from their defacto leader, Barbara Miller, instead of underhanded lobbying for her son to get elected to an office. Just the facts Babs, just the facts.
The letter submitted by Barbara was signed “Van Buren resident” not representative of the League of Women Voters. I believe she does understand the rules of the League which is why she signed the letter the way she did.
