Much of the Sept. 20 courtroom session in the Louis Kovach vs. Charter Township of Van Buren case was spent in a lengthy sidebar conference, as attorneys discussed the case with 3rd Circuit Court Judge John H. Gillis, Jr.
They also studied proposed land splits for the former Coy Kendall greenhouse property, now owned by Kovach. The denied splits are the subject of the law suit.
When all the talking with the judge was done, township attorney David Greco said he would present a proposed settlement to the township for approval, with hopes of a settlement before the next court date of Nov. 15.
Kovach’s attorney John Day said he is hopeful for a mutually acceptable agreement that will benefit both his client and the township.
Kovach filed the suit against the township and the members of the Parcel Division Board: Terry Carroll, Linda Stevenson, and Tom MacDonald.
