Jet skis collide jumping wakes on Belleville Lake

Two brothers, aged 16 and 14, from Ferndale on one jet ski and one 17 year-old male from Saginaw on another jet ski were involved in an accident on Belleville Lake at 4:50 p.m., Aug. 3.
Van Buren Township Police Lt. Charles Bazzy said those involved all knew each other and were recklessly operating their jet skis and jumping wakes when they collided in the air.
The 16 year old was uninjured and the other two had non-life-threatening injuries.
They were cited for reckless operation and expired registration.
A witness said the injured were loaded into an ambulance at Hayward’s.
Lt. Bazzy said their father brought them down to ride on the lake while he visited someone in Belleville.
Lt. Bazzy said the VBT department had to fill out a DNR Water Crash report.
