As of the 4 p.m., Friday, April 22, withdrawal deadline for those filing for the Aug. 2 primary election, Jeff Jahr has withdrawn his name from contention.
Van Buren Township Deputy Clerk Joanne Montgomery said he officially withdrew from being a candidate for trustee and the information already has been passed on to Wayne County.
Jahr, an attorney, currently serves as trustee on the Van Buren Township Board.
Mr. Jarr served his community for many years as trustee. At one time he was respected and admired. His participation in and support of the failed recall caused many residents to lose all respect for him and his lack of integrity for claiming to have been neutral. He and Heart claimed to be democrats but they both tried to recall fellow democrats. His ill-treatment of some of the best department directors at VBT also caused resident to be disappointed in him. His withdrawal is likely the smartest thing he’s done in many years. Although he does deserve a thank you for his many years of service.
Jahr was very good on many issues. However, EY is correct on the treatment of some Directors. Director Knowles in Planning wrote a letter to the Independent explaining Jarh/s treatment of him at a Board meeting. Knowles is now running unopposed for Township Super visor in his township.
