Members of St. George’s Masonic Lodge, Kingsville, Ontario, had a fraternal visit from brother Masons of Myrtle Lodge, Belleville, Michigan, on Oct. 24.
The Lodges’ last fraternal visitation was when Masons from Kingsville traveled to Belleville on June 27, 1916, over a century ago.
Members of Myrtle Lodge first visited Kingsville’s Lodge on June 7, 1900.
The minutes book of 1916 records that the members from Kingsville were met at the foot of Woodward Avenue in Detroit by Brethren with cars and were driven to Belleville with a police escort. This visit predates the Detroit Windsor tunnel and the Ambassador bridge.
The visitors witnessed the raising of a Brother to the third degree of Masonry and afterwards enjoyed the fraternal fellowship of the Lodge.
