Guiding Harbor will hold an open house from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at the Girlstown location, 11875 Quirk Road, Belleville.
The open house will include information about programs offered at Guiding Harbor, tours of the facility, and refreshments. It is free and open to the public.
“This event offers a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the work of Guiding Harbor, to ask questions and meet many of the dedicated staff,” CEO Jennifer Trotter said.
“The open house is a great way to learn about our residential program that has served more than 500 girls since its inception, as well as about our foster care and independent living programs.”
This event will provide an excellent chance for anyone considering becoming a foster parent or a home provider for youth in independent living to have their questions answered and to connect with someone who can help support them through that process, she said.
Guiding Harbor, then known as Girlstown, was founded by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1958 in Belleville, MI. Guiding Harbor now provides child care and child placement services for abused and neglected children. Services include: Foster Care, Supervised Independent Living and a Residential Program. The mission of Guiding Harbor is “Improving the Quality of Life for Children and Families.”
