A cookbook with more than 160 pages, featuring recipes from local cooks, is being offered as a fund raiser for Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue.
The “FMAR Sweets, Treats & Eats” publication is available for a $10 donation at the animal shelter, 51299 Arkona Road, east of Rawsonville Road, in Sumpter Township and at the Belleville-Area Independent newspaper, 152 Main Street, in downtown Belleville.
The shelter is generally open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, but call ahead at (734) 461-9458 to make sure someone will be there to help you. The Independent is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The cookbook also is available on the website www.fmar.org .
The money raised by cookbook donations is earmarked to put new vinyl flooring throughout the cat house.
“You can tell the book was put together by cat lovers by the pictures at the beginning of each section,” said Pete LaFramboise, FMAR president.
FMAR said an anonymous donor funded printing of the cookbook, so all the cookbook donations will go to pay for the floor. The cookbook committee, which gathered the recipes and prepared the book content, is made up of Sheila Glick, Katrina Guisgand, Sharon King, and Carol Schimmelpfenneg.
Members of the FMAR board of directors are Pete LaFramboise, president; Marcy LaFramboise, vice president; Cathy Boatin, secretary; Lori Bowerman, treasurer; Sandy Seaton, volunteer coordinator; Bob Smith, shelter liaison; Linda Luke, fundraiser coordinator; and Jessica Hassell, education and media coordinator.
