Tony D’Onofrio was re-elected president of the Friends of the Belleville Area District Library at Saturday’s annual meeting.
Others elected to the Friends’ board were vice-president Nakenya Yarbough, treasurer Rick Cichewicz, and secretary Mary Ann Renier.
The annual treasurer’s report showed that the used book sales throughout the year brought in $10,524.81 of the total $14,606.68 income. They are shooting for $11,000 in the 2012 budget. The club reported $12,915.80 in its treasury.
Belleville Area District Library Board Chairman Mary Jane Dawson spoke to the gathering, inviting them to board meetings at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the library. She said the board is looking for positive ideas and those who are interested in what’s best for the library district.
“No, we don’t have a site,” she said, answering the question on everyone’s mind. “All I can tell you is, it will be soon.”
She said all the sites have pro’s and con’s. What the library will look like depends on the site chosen.
She said there will be community forums held in the future for the people to tell the board what they would like to see in their new library.
Dawson said the garden tour for this year has been organized and it will consist of six “Decorated Gardens,” two to the west, two to the east, and two to the south.
The annual meeting, which included annual awards, began after guests were served tea, coffee, and finger foods by Sweet Afton Tea Room.
