The Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue is holding a fund raiser where they can earn $1,000 from Funds2Org if they collect enough shoes. The deadline for shoe donations has been extended to Monday, Aug. 24.
Linda Luke of FMAR said she can pick up shoes or people can take them to the shelter at 51299 Arkona Road in Sumpter Township. Luke’s contact numbers are (734) 740-1571 and (734) 697-9275. Or, people wishing to donate shoes may call the shelter for a pick up at (734) 461-9458.
Gently worn, used, and new shoes are used in developing nations for impoverished people to start, maintain, and grow their micro-enterprise.
Collected shoes are consolidated and shipped to these micro-entrepreneurs where they are cleaned, repaired, and sold at a profit. Because of this opportunity, individuals are able to feed, clothe and house their families.
