Once they know about needs, members of the Belleville community always reach out to help. They have to there is a need first and that’s where we are able to help, by putting out the information that opens people’s hearts. We’ve been writing about this for years because it is such a precious part of this community.
For example, we were able to let people know about the heavy-handed vote of the Sumpter Planning Commission that may cost the Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue a grant to put extra kennels on the back of their no-kill shelter.
People reached out, giving what they could. Some $20 bills here and there and one a bit more. Discounts on the paperwork came; more help needed.
Now, we find that funds are needed to help a young couple fight cancer. Kevin Robertson was hoping for help from a recent fund raiser, but that was just a dream. And, costs are piling up with few ways to pay the bills. No insurance. No Social Security. No unemployment compensation. Hope dwindling.
He and his wife are having a yard sale during Belleville’s annual citywide yard sale Sept. 10 and 11 where they will be selling donated items. And, they are having a bottle/can drive. Just drop donations off at 59 Henry Street.
This young couple is trying to face life with courage and hope. Let’s see what we can do to help them. It’s the way this community works.
