The Primary Election is upon us. Absentee ballots have been sent out to those requesting them. You will be able to vote early soon, going into the voting machine location and putting your ballot in the machine yourself for counting. Voting day is Aug. 6.
In order to help our readers figure out how best to cast their ballots in their local-local elections, we have asked candidates to share their backgrounds and goals for publication. Some candidates decided not to do this, but most have willingly participated. After all, it’s free publicity for their campaigns.
Besides the candidates that are in competitive races, we hope to introduce voters to unopposed candidates in their municipalities that voters may not have met as yet.
One of the most important things to keep our Constitution intact and our country free is informed voters. Our paper keeps you up to date on what your local government is doing so you can intervene, if you deem necessary, or just keep an eye on the decisions.
One reader told us she takes a bouquet of flowers to newcomers who move into her subdivision along with a copy of the Independent, telling them that they can find out what’s happening in their community by reading the paper.
Here’s your chance to learn what your candidates have to say about themselves.
