Tuesday’s meeting of the Van Buren Township Board of Trustees was pathetic. VBT Supervisor Kevin McNamara pushed through a new meetings policy — draft #8 — that he hopes will make his meetings professional, starting the first meeting in June.
We can hardly wait. Tuesday’s meeting included a censure of Trustee Frazier, mainly for a charge that is yet to be adjudicated; announcement by Clerk Wright that he had reported Trustee White to the police for a threat and the township attorney had been brought to the meeting just in case; announcement by White that misuse of a township credit card is a felony and he is gathering evidence against Clerk Wright — and that’s just some of it.
Supervisor McNamara has never run meetings before he was elected VBT supervisor and he’s having a hard time with this board. Trustee Frazier is well-informed and speaks out. McNamara said Tuesday that half of what she says is not true. We haven’t found that to be the case.
His new meetings’ policy is aimed at shutting up Frazier and White, who speak freely on things they find questionable. Well, Supervisor McNamara, you’re not going to get a board that supports you 100%. Get over it.
This rumpus makes us long for the skills of Sumpter Township supervisors Marvin Banotai and Johnny Vawters who would let people speak until they were done and then smile and be friends. Rules that shut people up are chilling.

This board of trustees is ridiculous, how embarrassing. They’re filing charges against one another, name calling, accusations. One board member says not a word, another one mumbles, another speaks too long and another just observes. Rosemary’s editorial says that at the work study trustee White claimed that the treasurer won’t even speak to him at township hall. If this is true, how childish and non-professional for an elected official to refuse to speak to a trustee? She should get over it and be on civil terms with her co-worker, maybe she’s still mad that the recall failed. I think the trustees are beginning to feel the disconnect from the three full time officials. After this recent meeting, it’s obvious where the disconnect begins and ends.
Is anybody surprised the McNamara is trying to pass a policy aimed in silencing anybody that apposes him? You just can’t get more crooked than that. This township cannot continue to have a dictatorship that does not allow others to give an opinion. And anybody how still has trust in him must be ignorant or in his pocket. You cannot run a city like this!!!
Vote them ALL out at the next election.
I agree, it is hopeless. However, Trustee Martin has a calm manner and is a man of principal. Trustee White keeps a close eye on the budget and expenses this is how it was found that the Clerk was allegedly misusing the township credit card. I feel sorry for McNamara trying to keep order with all these different personalities and back=stabbing.

All this talk about not trusting people, but let’s look at the facts. On the township board, who brought all of these problems and expense to the table? Frazier. On the school board, who brought all the problems and expense to the district? Frazier. Frazier is gone from the school board, and guess what, the problems are too. There is too much drama, fingerpointing, untruth, yelling and nonsense coming from Frazier. She was elected to both boards because she told people what they wanted to hear, rather than the TRUTH. The Independent continues to defend her, when it has been demonstrated (from Frazier’s own lips) that she is not honest. I noticed the school board passed another contract with VBT regarding leasing buses. Good for you VBPS for seeing the writing on the wall. As long as VBPS has a contract with VBT, Frazier cannot run again for school board. You can’t tell me that was an accident!
Donna you know nothing about what you’re spouting off on! The only reason why Ms Frazier left the school board was because she was lied to by K. McNamara VBT Supervisor in coohoots with VBPS Superintendent and his comrade Johnston, to force out Frazier on the guise that it was for the kids, that was a load of crap! Now K-Mac wanted to remove Frazier from HIS BRD ha ha, that was a goat roping! The missing thought is that Ms. Frazier was duly elected to both positions and she never should’ve gave up her position on the school board. She was in the minority that took a position to watch out for oversite and dereliction on performance and duties of VBPS administration and staff. That’s what she’s also doing at VBT, and she needs to keep up the good work. I’ve seen and lived through alot of negativity involving VBPS system and it hasn’t gotten back on track since the mid 80’s when it started going down hill. I went to BHS in the early 70’s and I DO HAVE ROOM TO TALK. VBPS system was a jewel to Belleville, VBT, and Sumpter in the 70’s and early 80’s but due to budget problems and a terrible board and some staff, it’s never come back to the good old days! The main problem was giving up all the vocational education and training for all the hoodlums that came with the alternative education!
this made me laugh out loud! Where you been? Frazier was on the board, supported and VOTED to give up voc ed! Go up to the main building and get the voting records! She is not honest, has never been honest, and is totally self serving. She only support s causes if they give HER personal glory. Educate yourself and stop living in fantasy world. Frazier is the problem and always has been. BTW VBPS has never been a jewel anywhere. Check the scores, old records and reports, How many kids actually went to college or to work training programs after graduation? Shameful numbers. VBPS is a large machine designed solely as an employment egency to support its workers. Trust me, I worked there for manyyears and it ain’t about educating kids. you are delusional if you think so.
