On March 31, four suspects allegedly took $3,226 worth of computers and computer-related products from Walmart.
Van Buren Township Police Lt. Charles Bazzy said the suspects put the items in a shopping cart and pushed it out of the store without paying for the items.
VBT Officer Fred Sweet was leaving the drive-through at the McDonald’s on Belleville Road and observed the four traveling south on Belleville Road without headlights. Officer Sweet stopped the vehicle and observed the computer equipment in the vehicle.
Officer Sweet conducted a field investigation and was able to determine the defendants had just stolen property from Walmart on Belleville Road. It was confirmed by Walmart that the defendants had just been in the store and had taken the items. The incident was captured on the in-store surveillance system, Lt. Bazzy said.
The four were scheduled for their probable cause conferences on the charges at 34th District Court on April 10 and they all waived the upcoming preliminary exams and were bound over for trial.
Christopher George Broadnax, II
Christopher George Broadnax, II, age 20, was bound over to circuit court for an arraignment on the information on April 17. He is charged with retail fraud, 1st degree, and accessory after the fact to a felony on March 31 in VBT.
He waived his preliminary exam on April 10 before Magistrate Lisa Martin.
Broadnax is lodged in the Wayne County Jail on a bond of $10,000/10%. His court-appointed attorney is Jeahad Kadaf.

Enrique Jesus Broadnax, 19, was bound over to circuit court for an arraignment on the information on April 17. He is charged with retail fraud, first degree, in VBT on March 31. He is lodged in the Wayne County Jail on bond of $10,000/10%. On April 10 he waived his preliminary exam and Magistrate Martin bound him over. His court-appointed attorney is Sharon Jones.

Terrance Leon Ford, 21, was bound over to circuit court for an arraignment on the information on April 17. He is charged with retail fraud – first degree on March 31 in VBT. He is lodged in the Wayne County Jail on bond of $10,000/10%. On April 10 he waived his preliminary exam and Magistrate Martin bound him over. His court-appointed attorney is Kurtis Davenport.

Andrew Alex Marsh
Andrew Alex Marsh, 20, waived his preliminary exam on a charge of retail fraud, first degree, that occurred on March 31 in VBT. Magistrate Martin bound him over to circuit court for an April 17 arraignment on the information.
He is free after posting bond of $10,000/10%. His court-appointed attorney is Brian S. Brown.
Craig Edward Swisher
Craig Edward Swisher, 58, of Sumpter Township was waiting for his bench trial before 34th District Court Judge Tina Brooks Green on April 10, when his court-appointed attorney Jeff Bowdich came up with a plea deal.
Swisher agreed to plea guilty to an added count of disorderly conduct (jostling) and the misdemeanor charges of interfering with a police investigation and domestic violence were dropped. The incident occurred in Sumpter Township on Dec. 22.
The victim, his neighbor at Rawsonville Woods mobile home park, was present in the courtroom and she was in agreement with the resolution of the charges. She told Judge Green she wanted to have contact with Swisher and so Judge Green lifted the previous no-contact order.
When the victim, her daughter and granddaughter entered the courtroom to await the bench trial, the little girl called out to Swisher as a friend.
Swisher was fined $565, but was given no required classes or other sentence. He had been free after posting $2,000/10% bond and most of the bond was credited toward his fine.
