Frank Broughton sent us an email to inform us we had printed some inaccurate information in our March 17 edition.
He explained: “As I was reading through your story about the property bids for Sumpter Township, I noticed some inaccurate info. The second to last bullet point states: ‘The $42,000 bidder said he couldn’t start within three to five years…’
“I was the lone bidder at $42,000 and never actually heard any response from Sumpter on this bid since the day it was presented to them. I have made no public comments related to this property bid. I’m not sure who stated it would have taken me 3-5 years to get going because I could have started 30 days after plans were presented. I would have also offered the property to the residents, as an option for them.”
Neighbor to the property Cory Blue was the one quoted on remarks at the March 8 meeting, saying the bidder said he couldn’t start for three to five years. When we asked, Blue said that’s what he was told by someone who was at the bid opening. We regret the confusion.
