When we quoted Belleville Downtown Development Authority member Jim Chudzinski on page 10 in last week’s edition we apparently misinterpreted what he was saying. We said his hop-on bus ride in New Orleans cost a quarter each time. He has corrected us, saying it didn’t cost a quarter in New Orleans. It was about $17 a head, “a touristy thing.”
Jim said at the DDA meeting, when ideas for the city were being sought, he was suggesting a hop-on ride around Belleville that could, maybe, cost a quarter a ride.
On Friday, he said he was thinking of a double-decker bus that would drive around town from noon to 7 or 8 p.m. that would get people from the neighborhoods into the city without them having to drive and park their cars. It would have to be a partnership and not just paid for by the city, he said.
We apologize for the misunderstanding.
