We didn’t get to court because of a traffic accident on Oct. 15, so we took the official court record for gospel. Wrong.
It’s been changed. David Brooks, the former Romulus Police Officer who was involved in a road rage incident on Belleville Road in May, pled guilty to a new misdemeanor charge of “Attempted Assault with a Dangerous Weapon” as part of his plea deal.
This has been confirmed by Maria Miller, Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor in charge of helping the press.
The two felony charges of “Assault with a Dangerous Weapon” and “Felony Firearm” were dismissed. Sentencing is Nov. 5.
We regret the misinformation on the plea printed in last week’s paper.
