The Belleville High School Robotics team competed in a FIRST Robotics Competition on March 10 on the west side of the state and came away with a gold medal.
At Monday’s school board meeting it was explained. Parent Angela Mears said the BHS team came out as 29th of 40 teams, but the BHS team was chosen as part of an alliance of teams and that alliance won a gold medal for the work of the three teams together.
School Supt. Pete Kudlak added that the BHS team had a setback in the first round and it had to stop and clean up before it could continue. He said they had to pick up the parts that had fallen off. After they put it back together, they “rallied the troops” and won the next three contests, he said.
Another FIRST Robotics Competition is scheduled for March 23 and 24 at BHS.
