Amy Proffitt, a resident of Belleville who lost her battle with cancer on Friday, will be remembered with a bowling benefit to raise money for bills for the family. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Lodge Lanes in Belleville.
She and her children were featured on Fox2 Detroit television news when the children started a lemonade stand to help raise money for bills.
“We are going forward with the fund raiser as one of her last wishes was that money be raised for her children’s education,” said Michelle Dettore.
Amy has been battling Stage 4 melanoma for the last five years. During the last two years it metastasized to her lungs and liver. She has two young children and has not been able to work for the last year due to the extensive chemotherapy treatments she had been receiving.
Donation for the bowling is $20 per person for three games, shoe rental, pizza and pop.
There will be many raffles, including one for a week’s stay at Las Arenas, St. Maarten, autographed hockey puck from Red Wings Pavel Datsyuk, dinner and hotel night stay at Greentown Casino.
