Belleville Police Chief Hal Berriman said his department is preparing a warrant request for the arrest of a person suspected of passing counterfeit bills in this community.
He said they are $10s and $20s.
Chief Berriman said new, real bills have an engraving you can see when you hold them up to the light. Also, he said, the texture of the paper is different on counterfeit bills. Also, he said, if you look at the printing on a bill and it isn’t clear, it’s no good.
