Belleville Mayor Ken Voigt has called a special city council meeting for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, to consider joining in a law suit regarding the transport and disposal of hazardous material at Wayne Disposal in Van Buren Township.
The city’s new law firm, the Kelly Firm, is expected to be at the meeting to coordinate with the environmental attorney in partnership with Canton and Van Buren townships, said city manager Jason Smith.
Van Buren Township Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10, to go into closed session on a legal matter, but this was past the Independent deadline for this week’s edition.
