Jesse Marcotte, a Northville Township fire fighter/paramedic who lives in Belleville, was named the new member of the Belleville City Council to fill the vacancy left by Kim Tindall who resigned to take a job with the city. The city had 30 days to replace Tindall or the state would select a replacement.
On Tuesday, the city council interviewed five residents who responded to a call for service: Randy Priest, Jeff Vernon, Kelly Bates, Martha Brown, and Marcotte. When City Manager Diana Kollmeyer tallied the numerical rating by the four council members, she reported Marcotte was first for all of them.
He knocked their socks off with his interview. He said his family moved from Detroit to Van Buren Township when he was five years old. He was a member of VBT’s Fire Explorers when he was in high school and worked with the Belleville Fire Department. In his senior year at BHS he took college classes at night and had his EMT basic license when he graduated. He worked at VBT when he was 19 and went on to Northville Township. He’s been a homeowner in Belleville for 10 years and a member of the city planning commission for eight years. And, athletic coach, musician, etc.
Congratulations, Councilman Marcotte.
