Frank Stachulski, 31, of Romulus, was arraigned by 34th District Court on Tuesday afternoon on three felony charges: assault with intent to do great physical harm less than murder (which could bring 10 years in prison), fourth-degree arson (5 years), and assault with a dangerous weapon (4 years), along with a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence (93 days).
On Sunday evening, Aug. 28, Van Buren Township Police responded to a 911 hang-up call at McDonald’s restaurant on Belleville Road. The call was upgraded to a vehicle fire in the parking lot. VBT Public Safety Director Gregory Laurain said police found that a male and female were involved in a domestic dispute and the male allegedly poured gasoline on the female and attempted to set her on fire.
Director Laurain said after being unsuccessful in igniting her, the male poured gasoline inside of the passenger compartment of her vehicle, set it on fire, and then fled on foot. Police caught him.
Stachulski’s probable cause conference is Sept 7 and his preliminary exam Sept. 14, both at 34th District Court.
