The Belleville Area District Library Board approved a letter of engagement to hire Alan C. Young & Associates to do the financial audit for the fiscal year ended June 30.
The unanimous vote was taken at the board’s regular meeting on Aug. 9.
Treasurer Tanya Stoudemire pointed out the cost is the same as last year’s audit, $6,475, and charges for additional time, if necessary, also is the same.
In other business at the 36-minute meeting, the board:
• Discussed various promotions for the upcoming bond and millage election, including an ice cream social from 7 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 24; special bookmarks; “I love my library” videos, and a forum at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Belleville High School mini-auditorium. Board chairman Sharon Peters said they would like to have forums in each of the township’s, as well. Mary Jane Dawson was praised for her work on marketing the library proposal; and
• Heard Director Mary Jo Suchy announce that her deputy director Hilary Savage volunteered to be on the Library Network’s Request for Proposals Community to evaluate and purchase a new shared library automation system. She has also volunteered to be their secretary. “The last time we changed automation vendors was in 2005 and it is important for our library to be included in the decision-making process,” Director Suchy said.
