VBT woman dies in 3-car crash on I-94 North Service Dr. on Nov. 19

Jasmine Scherie Copeland, 28, of Van Buren Township woman died in a three-car collision at about 3:09 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, on the I-94 North Service Drive between Van Buren and Independence drives.
VBT Police Lt. Charles Bazzy said a second driver was seriously injured and the third driver was uninjured.
Lt. Bazzy said the North Service Drive was closed to traffic from the time of the crash until almost 7 p.m. He said police had to wait for the medical examiner to show up which took 2 ½ to 3 hours.
A school bus was in the area at the time of the crash and police were investigating it as a probable factor in the accident. Lt. Bazzy said police didn’t know if the bus lights had been turned on at the time of the crash.
