Karen LaMothe resigns from Van Buren Township position

Karin LaMothe, who was hired by Van Buren Township Supervisor Linda Combs as her executive assistant in January, promoted to deputy supervisor in June, and demoted to executive assistant in August, has resigned effective Oct. 18.
At the end of Tuesday’s VBT Downtown Development Authority meeting, LaMothe told those who asked about her absence from the August DDA meeting that Tuesday was her last meeting because she had resigned.
She said her last day on the job would be Oct. 18 and she had been happy to serve Van Buren Township.
LaMothe did not explain her decision at the meeting, but was willing to talk privately with DDA members after adjournment.
VBT has never had a deputy supervisor in its history, except for this brief, two-month span.
