Van Buren Township Police responded to a call for “shots fired” in the area of Archwood Apartments on the North I-94 Service Drive around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, July 7.
VBT Police Lt. Ken Floro said the caller had a very detailed description of the suspects which matched four people that the officers located in the area. The four were detained and were very cooperative, Lt. Floro said.
“The call was unfounded. It was determined to be fireworks,” Lt. Floro said.
A motorist reported the young people were detained with their hands in the air.
“Incidents like this can be tense because the officers do not make presumptions about the cause of the ‘shots fired’ call while they are completing a thorough investigation into the matter and make sure everyone remains safe,” Lt. Floro explained.
