A “victim” who came to the Van Buren Township Police station to report a robbery at Ecorse Mobil gas station, decided to drop the whole thing after questioning.
VBT Police Lt. Dennis Brooks said the incident was reported at 9:13 a.m., Wednesday, March 27.
“Upon speaking with the ‘victim’ and receiving multiple stories of how this robbery happened, it was determined that the ‘victim’ was not telling the entire story and that this may have been a drug rip off,” Lt. Brooks said.
The case was closed after further questioning. The man declined to provide further information and told police that he would just “chalk it up as a loss,” Lt. Brooks said.
In another call, at 1:27 p.m., Friday, March 29, a holdup alarm went off at 39965 S. I-94 Service Drive.
Lt. Brooks said officers responded and found the rear doorwall open. Officers made contact with the homeowner who advised them that everything was OK, Lt. Brooks said.
