Now that the Bayou Grill is taking a break and has closed for now, the downtown area of Belleville is getting so empty.
We are told a new restaurant will be located there and it will be better than ever. We’re sure that will happen, but it’s taking time.
It’s also taking time for the former CVS pharmacy building to be leased and the former hardware store to get active. The Belleville DDA plans to get that open to pop-up businesses eventually. And, the DDA plans to tear down the building behind the hardware store and provide more public parking.
The parking will probably be for the shopping center next to the bridge since it isn’t needed for the now-vacant businesses on Main Street.
We have to be patient.
Meanwhile, the car show, farmers market and various goat activities are filling the town with bustling activity. The restaurants and bars that are open are busy. And, the Lakefest is coming up, among other events.
But, we need stores that are open year-round that will draw customers to Belleville when there isn’t a car show or a farmers market or a festival in town.
We know. Be patient. Everything is in the works and it takes time.
Go watch a goat and relax. Our pretty little town on the water will revive. Soon, we hope.
