The board heard the evidence and approved the consequence recommended by the administration, which was to expel the student for the remainder of the school year.
The three members present of the five-member board voted unanimously for the expulsion.
Present were president Vesta Losen, treasurer Charlene Derrick, and secretary Patricia Kirkpatrick. Absent were vice president Steven Harsant and director Darren Hickonbottom.
Also present were the board’s legal counsel Nicole Burnside and Keystone Principal Jorvonna Drain.
The board tabled seven action items.
Another board meeting was scheduled for 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, to attend to pressing business items and hold another student disciplinary meeting.
